Research

The QLab is a global user facility supporting a wide range of research and development of practical quantum applications. Access is open to the scientific and engineering research community including universities, industry, and national and government labs. The primary objectives guiding the allocation of QLab resources are: 

1. Support UMD research and educational projects to advance practical quantum computing solutions, enable scientific discovery, and prepare a skilled workforce, 
2. Support regional economic development efforts and national and global collaborations that enhance the “Capital of Quantum” as a leading hub in the global quantum ecosystem; and 
3. Provide substantial allocations to the open science community for a small number of high-impact scientific research projects.
