Users
The QLab supports users pursuing projects that would not be possible or productive without significant access to cutting-edge quantum computing systems (up to the equivalent of $250,000 in IonQ commercial compute credits) and/or the supporting implementation expertise. QLab encourages both high-risk, high-reward projects that have the potential to open new vistas of possible applications and those that will significantly progress the incremental development of tools for known applications. QLab can accommodate a wide range of users:
- Commercial: Users seeking proprietary use of QLab resources to advance commercial development can apply for access through a partnership with the Quantum Startup Foundry or through sponsored projects through the University of Maryland.
- Non-Commercial: Members of the open science community are supported through the QLab's Global User Program (GUP).
- Visiting Researchers: QLab is currently developing programs for enabling pre- and post-doctoral students and faculty to set up a 1-12 month visiting research residency in the QLab Collaboration Space to engage with QLab Fellows and/or other UMD faculty. In the meantime, such users are encourages to apply via the GUP.
The QLab User Portal provides the most up-to-date information on GUP opportunities and the mechanisms for submitting proposals and/or visiting researcher applications.
